    The Definitive Blessed Shield Guide

    The Spec
    - Can replace Shield Glare with Phalanx: Bowmen for lols and single target dps while solo
    - Can replace towering shield with Fervor while solo
    - If you lack a holy weapon you can use Divine Fortress
    The Gear
    [IMG]
    - Try and get physical resist or varied resists on what you can
    - The main reason we have 3 sets is for the triple 3 piece set bonuses giving us

    - 8% IAS
    - 50% MF
    - 50% exp
    - 25% elite damage bonus
    - 23% elite damage reduction
    - 7% melee reduction
    - 7% ranged reduction
    - 250 vit
    - 25% gold find
    - Gyrfalcon's Foote is required for this spec to work. If you don't have it, then you can't do this spec. Jenkabord isn't required, but it makes the build 3 times better.

    - If you don't have BT chest/pants yet you can use ashera's pants/shoulders and use aughild's chest/bracers while doing cain's boots/pants, but that's kind of convoluted.

    - I like Cain's set over Akkhan 2pc because Cain's is crafted, therefore you can get BIS rolls with enough crafts. If you get BIS rolls on Akkhan it might be competitive, but the IAS bonus on Cain's is more valuable than extra strength in my opinon.

    - The reason I'm not using 6pc Akkhan is because (at this moment) the benefits of the set bonuses don't align themselves well enough to drop BT and Cain's. That being said, there could be a build in there somewhere, but it's going to take some GG Akkhan pieces to do it, and even then I don't see it being much better or even competetive than the gear setup we have now. You'd have to drop either Andariel's or Aughild along with BT to use 5pc (and RORG) and it's just not worth the loss in straight damage.

Here are the stats you should aim for overall on your gear

    - 10,000 STR
    - 45% crit chance
    - 450% crit damage
    - 8-16% IAS
    - 40 Area damage
    - 50% bonus damage to elites
    - 800 resist all
    - 18k armor
    - 20% elite damage reduction
    - 500k hp
    - 100k globe bonus
    - 4 globe radius
Paragon Points (in the order of importance)
    Core- Move speed, STR
    Offense- CHD, IAS, CC
Defense- AR, %life, Armor [can swap AR and %life depending on your setup]
Utility- Area Damage, LOH, Gold find
    Play Style
For this spec we are taking advantage of area damage as much as possible, so whenever you're fighting elites, try and keep them as close together as possible.

I like to judge an elite pack from a distance to keep them grouped up, run up, shield glare and then lay into them. I save Valor: Critical for when my other 2 buff abilities are on cooldown. I use Akkarat for a panic button, allowing me to burn down multiple elite packs on high torment without much trouble.

Mainly for this build I just hold right click and win. Now, the reason I use right and not left click for BS is that right click does auto-standstill automatically wheras I have to hold spacebar before left clicking, which is a pain in my hand. So, occasionally I fire off a couple shield glares on accident, but the cooldown is so short it doesn't really matter.

Some of the disadvantages are that this spec gets pretty easily smothered by waller and missile dampening. Also, if there is only one target on the screen (ie rift boss) the damage is admittedly lackluster. This is mainly a non-issue in groups and if you're savvy you can grab another elite pack or pylon to help with the rift boss. The lack of single target dps affects this build like 5% of the time, so nothing to worry about imo.
    Video

T6 Rift in 10:00 (rift boss kill in 1:23 or 13.8% of the time) At 3,789,305,344 hp I did 45,654,281 effective dps to the rift boss.

T6 Rift clear in 11 minutes with no unity ring.

T6 Rift clear in 13 minutes with only Blessed Shield on skill bar. No Unity.
** I did T6 ubers with this spec and it pretty much dominated. 2 high hp targets all the time means so many bounces. So many.

i think you have inspired me to farm the mats to make Cain's set. I like what I see you doing with it. The weapon, well, sooner or later i will see one and once again be able to move about freely, lol.

You should be able to find them in any difficulty, but I cannot 100% confirm this.

Good team build, not that great solo without unity.

Classless promotion of this build over at the monk forums by trashing nichodemus thread.

Skurred, Nicho, and Amiar all play together Scrapz. Pretty sure that was just friendly trolling.

Yeah, definitely trolling :) We usually play every night together. Anyway, in truth this build does really well solo. As I said in the guide, t6 is still an issue as far as toughness goes, but that is remedied by either playing better or a unity ring.

So, people cried on the forums about how I used a unity ring for my rift clear. So I uploaded a video where I don't use one, but where I clear 50% of the rift with 2 conduit pylons. I'm really looking forward to their comments about it. Also, I have another rift that I cleared in the same time, but that's no fun!

Hey I registered here to ask you a few questions on the build. I managed to get the shield a few days ago from Kadala and it rolled decently and I still do pretty well even without the weapon.

Do you think items with additional block chance are worth seeking out? Like Helm of Rule and Justice Lantern? I know block doesn't give that much damage but it seems like a good mix of both offense and defense into one stat.

Also what do you think of using Shield Bash for your single target damage? The last rune comes out to almost 900% weapon damage per hit if you have decent block chance. You can also craft a Piro Marella to swap out when there is only one target to make the Shield Bash spammable since it would probably cost about 10 Wrath.

I really like the build but the single target damage is just so frustrating. Even on like T4 the Rift bosses take ages to kill if they are isolated from any other targets. I think the Shield Bash would be a good fit but I haven't been able to test it myself.

+1 Shameless promotion of Amiar's build and setup:

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/CaptainCarl-1923/hero/43959897

Some alterations since I have yet to find an Andys, SOJ or lev70 RORG:

Im using a vanilla Mempo for the IAS and %Life with socket and using a Unity instead of SOJ at the moment.

I told you Amiar since day 1, you can test the builds and I will follow in suite JV status! Played T4 and T5 last night after getting my health to 500k+. I must say that after almost doubling my life I have come to realize that %life >>> AR. For one, potions heal 75% of your life so the more life you have the better your potions and since this build is mainly a ranged class you just have to survive a bit of burst damage and you will be a ok.

A few more crafts and slowly switching from Fire gear to Holy gear I will be up to spec soon.

Thanks for all the hard work and dedication, you sure are making my limited D3 time efficient and enjoyful.

    Cheers,
    CC-

EDIT: I have a Harringtons which I use on lower Torments but I use Notched belt to complete the 4 piece BT set bonus which allows you to stand in those affixes and Captain America away which is so helpful in highers Ts. This damage mitigation plus increased damage output helps out a lot if you have yet to roll the perfect pieces like Amiar has and need a bit of a crutch to stand on.

Through some not so scientific testing I'd equate 16% block chance to about 500 STR in terms of dps output. That being said, helm of rule can't compete with Andariel's Visage and JL can't compete with SOJ or RORG.

I tried shield bash but I crit for like 20-30m with it while my BS crits can do 15m+ on bosses, so that's like two BS hits, so it's more efficient to use a buff skill and just use BS on bosses. The best way to buff single target dps is to swap out steed charge for bowmen. My bowmen do about 60m damage per summon, which is 240m dps each minute. It's not much, but each bit helps. The best thing to do on rift bosses is to kite their ass around, and if you can't you just have to eat it and do a 5min boss kill.

Please pardon the noob intervention, as I'm relatively new to Crusader, but according to BS's tooltip - isn't only the shield's own Block Chance that is taken into consideration when calculating the skill's damage output? Therefore, any block chance added by items in other gear slots would have no impact on BS's DPS, no?

Another question, I've noticed the Towering Shield passive for my crusader maxes out at 54% block chance... can it get any higher? or what alters it? I didnt realise the cap was less than 100% block chance.

I think it only adds 25% block chance for some reason. Dunno why.

I think it just buffs the first hit. According to other people it doesn't buff the richochets.
